Are you tired of your job but can't get out of the corporate arena just yet?
Here are some suggestions that might work for your advantage. While you are where you are, make the most out of it.
DON'T JUST PRESENT THE PROBLEM BUT OFFER A SOLUTION AS WELL.
The company we work for, are not some helpdesk who would give all the solutions encountered in the workplace. They are looking for employees to help solve problems. Better yet go beyond the list of responsibilities or to do's set for you to do. In the midst of economic challenge, they are on the look out for those who offers to bring down the operating cost but still deliver quality product or service. But how do I show myself? Be identified with an issue that will allow you to deliver the solution that will make you shine. Remember choose the one you are an expert on and will make you shine the most. Always remember that no one gets hurt or you don't step on someone's way in doing this.
LIST DOWN YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS
It is always best to support your case with data, so don't just tell your boss, show them with all the list of accomplishments. Make them remember what you did. Don't assume they know everything you does.
Data will speak for itself, but of course remember to present your list of achievements or accomplishments with confidence.
STRETCH YOUR CAPACITY
This is another way to show not only what you have but what else can you do. Accept additional responsibility and show that you are capable to do more. This will pave the way for a promotion.
NETWORKING
Make yourself visible and known. Those who envy you may persive it as rubbing elbows or worse kissing asses. Let them think what they want, just as long you don't step on someone's shoes and get them hurt, create your own edge, make yourself known and your accomplishments. Always walk the talk. Introduce yourself and make a good impression.
WORK WITH MINIMUM SUPERVISION
We are responsible individuals & should not be treated as kids. If your manager sees that you can be trusted, then the ball keeps rolling. It paves the way for greater opportunities to do more and get somewhere.
Employees who can work with minimum supervision are considered as assets. Be responsible and take action
Always create a leverage for yourself. If you don't get what you want just yet, talk it out with a friend but always discuss it with your manager. This way you know where you are and you can make a sound decision.
